Wilkes Autism Society is now taking donations from the general public and
companies for funding of teaching, and supporting children and families struggling
with Autism. Education and awareness of the public is also one of our areas of
financial need, it takes money and supplies to host events that are geared toward
spreading the awareness and educating the "non autistic" population. "Why is this
important?" you may ask.....well it's simple.....if the general public is more educated
about Autism the acceptance of autistic children and adults will become much more
wide. Today less that half of the general public knows the characteristics of Autism
and the effects it has on those who have it. The public can play a great role in
helping these children and adults lead happy, productive, and normal lives.
Website costs also play a role in our financial needs. The website not only plays the
role of advertisement, but also gives parents of and friends of autistic people
information and contacts that can impact a child's life forever........You can't put a
price tag on that kind of power!!!!!!!!
Supplies are another area of importance that needs to be addressed. Pens,
markers, crayons, pencils, construction paper, printer paper, balls, books, and toys
all can make a big difference in a child's life. Some children with Autism are very
high maintenance and have a lot of bills for doctor visits, therapy, special foods,
special learning clothing, and toys. Insurance companies are NOT playing a
significant role in helping these families and the children are suffering for it. Many
children with Autism go to special "private" schools that are not funded by the state
and what's worse is that these children need these services around the clock and
year round.
Our Mission is to one day maintain a facility that will have certified teachers,
therapists, nurses, and child care specialists on hand in a facility that specializes in
autism. To provide a place of understanding and knowledge, and to help autistic
children get the special attention and support they need to be successful in society.
These goals will be a long and hard road, but with the help of those who will give of
their time, abilities, and financial support WE WILL SUCCEED!
All donors receive a receipt that is tax deductible. NOT one cent goes to any
individual of this organization......IT IS FOR THE BENEFIT OF FAMILIES WITH
AUTISM.
All receipts can be printed off at time of donation, or if a donation is made in person,
you will receive your receipt at the time the donation is made. If you would like to
make a donation in person please see "Norma" on our "Anytime Contacts" page for
